Wow, cant believe it's only 5 days until dad's surgery. For those of you who need a little update.... Dad was diagnosed on Dec. 31st, 2010 with esophageal/stomach cancer. You all know that DEATH word that starts with a C, that scares all those who hear it at one time or another in our own lives or the lives of OUR loved ones! Well that very C word has changed the lives of many in the Case Family. After 2+ months of Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy and the loss of 40#, Dad is READY to move onto the next phase of FIGHTING this Disease.
As some of you know there is a BIGGER word that starts with a G that makes the C word tremble.....GOD, yes I said GOD. He has also changed the lives of many Case Family members. On May 7th, 2011, My step-mother gave her life to God with my father at her side re-dedicating his life to the Lord. Now that is a Blessing only God has control over, not Cancer.
We will be leaving for OHSU early Wednesday morning for pre-op appointments all day. The day will start with coffee had by Dad, Bonica, myself and My little Brother (Rick) who will be driving all night to meet up with us in the early am. Then later that afternoon we will pick up Vicki (step-sister) coming in from Virginia. Boy do I feel sorry for my Dad having to put up with the 4 of us telling him what to do! Don't fool yourselves in thinking that.....he's the KING (earthly) and will be calling the shots. :)
The past 5 months have been life changing for me and my relationships with (1) God, (2) My Dad, (3) My step-mother and (4) Everyone I love .... Family and Friends. I have always looked up to my father as a Role Model and the hero of a Young Girl and now I look AT and Within Him as a STRONG Pillar of FAITH, HOPE and LOVE!!!!!! I believe that the LORD has many GREAT plans for my Father and that He will CONTINUE to Survive and spread his Gospel. Please keep us all in your prayers and stay tuned for daily updates on dad's recovery. He would love to hear from each of those out there who are able and want to send him encouragement.
Hi Papa Case and Gayla!
ReplyDeleteI wish I was there to give you all hugs...()()()()()() those were emoticon hugs (not quite the same).
My prayers, love and thoughts will be with you all week.
As you know, God's hands are such loving and capable hands and he is going to provide you with all that you need to get through this. So keep your eyes on Him and don't look down. Remember, Peter was walking on water until he started doubting, then he began to sink - - even then, though, Jesus reached out and saved him. (I love that!) Rest in God's assurance this week and let Him comfort you.
I love you all!!!
Love,
Kasey
Sorry to hear about the CA...didn't know. Will be praying for your recovery!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
